WebSep 14, 2009 · Also, if you clean your guitar while there are no strings on it, it's easy to accidentally move the thumbwheels and change the height of the bridge. That could also result in buzz, if you accidentally lowered the action. That's quite possible too because I cleaned my guitar through and through last night while the strings were off. Thanks again.

This past week I decided to try a set of 9.5 on a couple guitars. My Epi LP and my Gibson LPJ. The Epi needed a slight truss rod tweak... the Gibson didn't need any adjustment. After changing the strings, both play and sound great.
